Camel safaris in Kenya and Elephant back safaris in Botswana and South Africa with Ride Africa
Elephant back safaris and camel safaris with Ride Africa
For guests with more unconventional tastes elephant back and camel safaris often add a thrill to any riding safari. The languid pace of a camel safari allows one to take in the vast savannahs and the varied flora and fauna of
Africa, as well as get to know these fascinating creatures. There are mobile camping opportunities as well as just a short walk around camp. Elephants are the strongest and most dangerous animals in Africa, experience the miracle which is riding or walking with elephants through the bush, right up to other game and wildlife. The habituated herds consist of elephants taken on due to injury, or being orphaned by poachers, they are all gentle and well trained with expert handlers who the elephants are very attached to. This is an experience not to be missed and either camel or elephant safaris can be easily added on to any of the other destinations on the website.

Camel safaris are offered all over Kenya, many of the lodges who have horses also have a few camels to provide the guests with a little entertainment and a relaxing walk through the bush. Sabuk in Laikipia, Kenya, offer the best in camel safaris.

Sabuk is a striking safari lodge perched high on a cliff above the Ewaso Nyiro River in Laikipia. Unique in design, the main lodge and 5 cottages are all open fronted with dramatic views into the river gorge and towards the distant outline of Mt Kenya. The lodge has beautiful twisted hardwood furniture, huge day beds and separate cushioned areas geared to make life easy for families. Lots of holiday activities are offered including camel safaris and overnight fly camping. More…

Elephant back safaris are best done in Botswana and South Africa where the elephant population is thriving and many lodges have habituated herds which guests can walk with or ride. This is a magical experience as the wildlife allows you to get even closer to it and allows guests to become part of the variety of habitats Botswana boasts. We recommend Abu Camp in the Okavango delta and Camp Jabulani in South Africa, please contact us for more information.
